Abstract

5 - Amino - 4 - carbethoxy - 2 - mercapto thiazole is prepared by boiling an ethanolic solution of ethyl aminocyanoacetate with carbon disulphide under reflux. Ethyl aminocyanoacetate is prepared by reducing ethyl isonitroso-cyanoacetate with hydrogen under pressure and with a platinum oxide catalyst.
