Abstract

839,146. Can carrier cartons. ANDRE, N. Dec. 9, 1957, No. 38242/57. Classes 94(1) and 133. A carrier carton for two rows of upright cans 2 having projecting chimes 3 at both their ends comprises a cardboard blank folded to provide a central panel 11, opposed side panels 12, 13 and a pair of coplanar end panels 14, 15 having integral engaging end sections 16, 17 which project towards the central panel 11 between the rows. Means 21 integral with the end panels 14, 15 interlock to hold the sections 16, 17 in engagement and the end panels coplanar. Finger-holes can be provided in the panel 11 or a handle 26 can be secured by means of its T-portions 42 in openings 45. The means 21 comprise flaps 23 hinged on the end panel 15 which are pushed down through openings made by flaps 22 hinged on the end panel 14, their ears 25 springing back below the latter panel thus locking the panels together. Openings 33 formed in the side panels 12, 13 accommodate the chimes 3. Flaps 28 cut out of the panel 11 bend upwardly to prevent the bottom chimes of one row overriding those of the other. Tabs 35 and 36 prevent the rows from shifting vertically.
