Abstract

838,910. Vehicle headlamps. LOLLERT, F. Sept. 10, 1957 [Sept. 10, 1956; Aug. 16, 1957], No. 28558/57. Classes 39(2) and 75(4) A vehicle headlamp includes a bulb 1 having two filaments arranged above a screen 2 for cutting off downwardly directed rays from the filaments, the rear filament 4 for providing light at a distance from the vehicle being arranged above the focus of the reflector 3 with its axis transverse to the axis of the reflector and the front filament 5 for producing light close to the vehicle being arranged with its axis in the direction of the axis of the reflector. The screen 2 is provided with a depression below the filament to avoid over-heating and may have an upturned front edge 7 to cut off direct rays from the filament. The cross-section of the depression may be curved or rectangular and a lateral margin may be provided on one or both sides of the screen up to or above the level of the filament. Fig. 15 shows a form in which the filaments are arranged at different levels, the lateral margin 17, 18 being stepped to correspond with the middle or upper edge of the filament.
