838,363. Tensioning cables. ROEBLING, R. C. Dec. 16, 1958, No. 40466/58. Class 45. A cable-tensioning device comprises a body 1 having a longitudinal guideway 2 of non- circular, as shown square, cross-section for receiving a slider 18 secured at 20 to the cable 16 and adjustable by a screw 26, the adjacent cable 14 being anchored by a pin and eye connection 13, 15 between flanges 10 on the body 1, one of the flanges 10 being extended to overhang the head 28 of the screw 26 so that the bolt-receiving ends of a clamp band 30, which embraces the head 28, may be tightened thereon by a bolt 33 which passes also through a hole in the extension of the flange 10. The slider has a middle part of square cross-section to work in the guideway which is strengthened by a cross-piece 22. The cable 16 rests in a recess 8 in a cross-piece 7.
