837,456. Milling. DELISO, J. J. Dec. 13, 1957, No. 38830/57. Class 83 (3). A milling-machine comprises means to rotate a turret at fast-traverse and slow-feed speeds to carry a number of workpieces past a series of fixed cutters, and including a pair of discs adjustable to alter the points at which the rotational speed of the turret is changed. The turret is slotted to receive work-holding or indexing devices. A continuous chain driven by a motor 22 rotates a number of cutter-shafts 24, each mounted on an adjustable slide 30. The turret-shaft 16 is rotated through chain gearing driven by either a fast-, or a low-, speed motor, according to the energization of two electromagnetic clutches. The clutches are selectively energized by a switch 70 having an arm riding on the periphery of the pair of discs. The discs are similar, and have alternate lands 66, 68, and gaps 72, so that, by adjusting the discs relatively to the shaft 16, the distance between the ends of adjacent lands can be increased, so lengthening the time of the fast traverse. Swarf falls downwardly on to the base 10.
