Abstract
837,066. Fluid-pressure servomotor control systems; valves. TECNOS INTERNACIONAL COMPANIA ANOMINA. April 28, 1958, No. 13401/58. Class 135. Upon depressing or tilting the spring-loaded button 8, Fig. 1, of a water fountain, an auxiliary valve 4 is unseated releasing the water pressure in a chamber 3 above a flexible, e.g. rubber, valve closure 13 and enabling water in the inlet 10 to lift the central part of the closure 13 and place the inlet in communication with a number of outlets 11 that open into a delivery tube 12; the centre of the closure 13 lifts slowly since the water displaced thereby flows into chamber via an orifice 16. When the button 8 is released the valve 4 reseats but water continues to enter the chamber 3 by inlet 10, a groove 14 or an aperture through the closure, not shown, and orifice 16 until the pressure differential across the closure 13 is sufficient to urge the latter on to its seat 9. The orifice 16 is provided in a plate 15 which is formed with peripheral teeth 17 that abut the closure 13; the plate 15 may be spaced from the closure 13 to allow the latter to lift fully in operation. The orifice 16 is of smaller section than that controlled by the valve 4 but larger than the section of groove 14. In a modification, the auxiliary valve is comprised by a remote gate valve 28, Fig. 3, which when opened allows the closure 13 to slide upwardly so connecting the inlet 10 with the delivery tube 12 by outlets 11; a gasket prevents the closure 13 from contacting the orifice plate 15. The closure 13 embodies an aperture 25 or may be grooved as in Fig. 1. This construction is applicable to domestic faucets, and the conduit 27 leading to the valve 28 is connected to drain or the tube 12. The closure 13 seats when the valve 28 is again closed. In a final modification, the apparatus is disposed in a flush tank 37, Fig. 4, and upon emptying the latter a float 50 falls and causes rotation of a bonnet 43 on transverse stub pins and hence tilting of a bar 48 integral with the bonnet, which bar in turn tilts the stem 6 of the auxiliary valve 4 and opens the latter thus enabling the main closure 13 to bulge as in Fig. 1, or to slide upwardly in the chamber 3 and permit water in the inlet 10 to flow into the tank 37 via outlets 11 and a splash tube 38 that opens near the tank bottom to ensure silent filling of the latter. As the tank fills the float 50 is raised and finally closes the valve 4 whereupon the main closure reseats. Water flowing past the valve 4 is directed into the tank outlet pipe and assists in the flushing operation. The valve closures may be of moulded nylon.
