835,795. Preventing corrosion. HUGHES & CO. Ltd., F. A. April 22, 1958 [May 20, 1957], No. 15027/57. Class 123(1) A sacrificial anode of, for example, magnesium alloy, has a large central mass 10 surrounding a central core 11 such as that described in Specification 831,660 by which it can be mounted. The block 10 has two pairs of tapered fins 12, 13 and 14, 15, the short fins 14, 15 having a radial length 18 which is between 40 and 60% of the radial length 19 of the long fins. In use the consumption of the long fins provides the high current for initial polarization whilst the interference effect of the short fins prevents selective attack where the long fins join the main body.
