835,513. Rotary metallurgical converters. DEMAG A. G. April 11, 1958 [April 18, 1957], No. 11539/58. Class 72 A rotary metallurgical converter mounted in a tilting frame comprises a converter vessel pivotally mounted on a bottom trunnion having spherical bearing surfaces and on rollers mounted peripherally of the vessel to provide three point support. As shown, a converter vessel 1 has a bottom trunnion 3 having spherical surfaces 4 by which it is mounted in corresponding bearing faces 5 of a tiltable, bell-shaped frame 6. The vessel is also supported in rollers 11, 12, 13, 14 mounted on the frame 6 and running on a ring 10 welded to the vessel. The rotary drive comprises two motors 24, 25 driving, through gearing, a gear ring 28 mounted in the middle plane of the trunnion.
