Abstract
<PICT:0834635/III/1> An automatic feed system for supplying liquid samples for testing, consists of a rotary member 22 provided with a series of liquid receptacles 30 equally spaced around the periphery, which are moved stepwise to bring each container in turn in register with an off-take pivoted tube 24, there being a predetermined dwell period between each movement of the rotary member during which the off-take tube rapidly dips into the liquid container and empties it. The stepwise movement of the rotary member, and the pivoted dip movement of the off-take tube are integrated through Geneva gearing driven by an electric motor. The outer zone of the rotary member is covered by a stationary transparent circular member 38 having one aperture 42 at the edge and having dependent legs 40 which ride in a groove 36 in the rotary member. A large central opening 43 in the stationary member shows a series of holes 34 in the rotary member equal in number to the liquid receptacles 30, and a disc 82 clamped to the driving shaft and having an indicating arrow 98 pointing to the last receptacle to be emptied which is adjustable in relation to a downwardly projecting pin 92 which switches off the motion when the series is completed. The dwell period when the off-take tube withdraws liquid from each container, may be adjusted to account for different levels of liquid in the containers. Specification 774,711 is referred to.
