Abstract

834,481. Step-by-step conveyers. WEST MIDLANDS GAS BOARD. Sept. 17, 1958 [June 18, 1957], No. 19132/57. Class 78 (1). [Also in Group XII] Apparatus for pushing batts through a continuous pottery kiln, e.g. a kiln of the type disclosed in Specification 767,111, comprises reciprocable pusher bars 11 arranged over tables 8 mounted on a wheeled supporting structure 9, each pusher bar in its rearmost position moving against a shoulder 18 on a ramp 16 attached to a pivoted cradle 12. As a loaded batt is pushed over the ramp 16, the cradle is depressed against the action of a counterweight 17 to the position shown at 19. Fig. 5 in which the pusher bar is level with the table. The batt is further pushed over the bar into position 20, whereupon counterweight 17 restores the bar into its operable position. A chain and sprocket drive for the pusher bar operated by an hydraulic ram and an hydraulic control system therefor are similar to those disclosed in Specification 767,111.
