Abstract

833,660. Winches. CAMPBELL & ISHERWOOD Ltd., and MEREDITH, J. April 26, 1957 [May 11, 1956], No. 14650/56. Class 78 (5). Winch drum 1 supported by end pedestals 2, 3, is driven by an hydraulic (or electric) motor 15 through gear 16, gears 17 and 17A, ring gear 11 rigid with gear 11A, gears 18 and 18A, the latter meshing with gear-ring 12 fixed on to the inside of the drum. The motor and gearing is enclosed inside casing 6, 8, 8A so that assembly is effected by sliding the casing between splines 6b at one end and into the pedestal 2 at the other end, this construction permitting adjustment for possible misalignment. Further adjustment is permitted by clearances X and X1.
