A gas-liquid contact apparatus has a series of bubble-trays arranged in a column, each tray having a pair of liquid inlet wells 15 and a liquid collecting well 20 which extends across a central zone of the tray and discharges liquid to the inlet wells of the tray below. The upstanding walls of the inlet and collecting wells may be notched as shown at 23.
