Abstract
831,805. Burglar alarms. ADLER, H. July 25, 1957 [Nov. 5, 1956], No. 33690/56. Class 118 (1). A safety alarm device for an attache case comprises, in addition to an electrically-operable audible indicator, an actuator for an emission element adapted to be operated by any unauthorized displacement of the bag which causes operation of the audible indicator, to effect discharge of a quantity of material which forms an obnoxious cloud about the device. Switch 4 is open when the bag or case stands on the ground and switch 3 is open when it is held by the handle. If the bag is snatched.both the switches close, completing a circuit from battery B, through switch 8, hinge 23, switch 3, second hinge 23, switch 4, audible warning device 1, relay coil 2, lock switches 7 and 7a, back to the other terminal of the battery. The energization of relay coil 2 engages contacts 2c<1>, which act as a holding relay to, maintain the circuit if switches 3 or 4 are opened, and contacts 2c<2> which complete a circuit through switch 9 and heater coil 5, the heat from this coil melting obnoxious gas pellet 6, the gas then escaping from the bag through vents 16. Switches 8 and 9 are provided so that the audible and/or obnoxious gas warning may be rendered ineffective. The audible warning device is stopped by opening one of the switch locks 7, 7a. Specification 399,034 is referred to.
