831,725. Wearing-apparel; pockets. FRANKENSTEIN & SON (MANCHESTER) Ltd., F., and OLDHAM, W. May 15, 1958 [May 15, 1957], No. 15355/57. Class 141 [Also in Group XXV] Means for releasably connecting parts of two separate items of wearing apparel, or two parts of the same garment, comprises interfitting rows of flexible loops 7, 8 which are sewn respectively to edges 5, 6 of the garment and which, when aligned, can be connected together by a flexible rod 9 made, e.g. of nylon. The latter is moulded to provide an arrow head 10 at one end and a T piece or pullring at the opposite end, the shank 12 preferably being of ribbed or of cruciform section. The end loops 7a, 8a are preferably narrower in width to limit the tendency for the closure to gape at these points. When the fastening is not intended for frequent operation the pull-ring 11 is preferably replaced by a T-piece and the arrow head is preferably engaged with a headed stud on the garment. When used to join the edges of a pocket one set of loops may be set back from the corresponding edge to provide an overlapping edge and the complete pocket may be protected by an additional cover flap. A tab, not shown, on the pocket may be press-studded to the body of the garment through the pull-ring 11. The fastening means may be used to join an inflatable life-jacket to an airman's outer-garment.
