Abstract
831,038. Gas-turbine plant. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. May 21, 1958 [May 28, 1957], No. 16306/58. Class 110 (3). [Also in Group XXXV] A gas turbine E with a power output shaft S has a conventional fuel control system comprising a pump 11 and an associated fuel controller 16 by-passing fuel through a line 31; the power setting is varied by a hand throttle 17. A fuel delivery line 32 connects the controller to a Venturi 51 and a by-pass valve 52; the Venturi is connected to the burners by a line 33. A diaphragm 61 in the by-pass valve 52 lifts a poppet 53 from a seat 54 to by-pass fuel through a line 58 when the rate of flow in the Venturi exceeds a value determined by a spring 68, the compression of which is partially dependent on the position of a piston 69 movable between limit stops 72, 73. The movement of the piston is controlled by an electrohydraulic servo (Group XXXV) so as to maintain the output torque in the shaft S at a predetermined value.
