Abstract

830,390. Furnace grates; firebars. STAMICARBON N.V. Sept. 1, 1958 [Sept. 4, 1957], No: 28021/58. Class 51 (1). The bottom of a combustion chamber formed by vertical, finned water-cooled front and rear bars 4, 5 is closed by fixed spaced bars 11 extending over part of the chamber bottom, and bars 13 extending in opposite directions from a rotatable member 12 journalled in bearings in the bars 11. The bars 11 slope downwardly from the front of the chamber and the bars 13 lie between them and extend towards the rear of the chamber between projections 18. The bars 13 are rotated through 180 degrees to remove clinker which is broken by the projections 18. Air entering the space between a thermostatically-controlled inlet flap 19 and the front grate 4 serves for primary combustion, and secondary air leaves this space through passages 21 controlled by damper 23 and passes to the ashpit 14 and the secondary combustion chamber 10 behind the rear grate 5.
