Abstract

829,931. Valves. SCOVILL MANUFACTURING CO. May 14, 1957 [June 28, 1956], No. 15319/57. Class 135. A dust cap for a tyre inflation valve enabling the tyre to be inflated, deflated or gauged without removal of the cap from the tyre valve stem, comprises a one-piece tubular body 10 screwthreadedly attached to the tyre valve stem 15 and formed intermediate its ends with an internal rib 30 against the lower face of which seats a valve washer 12 mounted with axial movement in a groove 39 formed intermediate the ends of a one-piece valve pin 11. The pin 11 is formed at its outer end with an enlarged head 34 between which and the upper face of the rib 30 and surrounding the pin 11 is disposed a spring 13. The portion of the pin below the groove 39 on depression of the head 34 against the spring unseats the tyre inflation valve subsequent to the unseating of the valve washer 12. Valve washer 12 when seated seals the valve body 10.
