Abstract
In the separation of n-paraffins from other hydrocarbons by adduct formation with aqueous urea containing 10-40 weight per cent of water, the formation of adduct is effected in two stages, the second at lower pressure than the first. The process is preferably effected in an oil solvent, e.g. methylene chloride, difluorodichloromethane, cyclohexane or dichloroethane, the pressures being chosen so that at the lower pressure the boiling points of the solvent is exceeded. The grain size of the resultant adduct can be increased by stirring with an oil not capable of adduct formation or with water preferably containing urea.
