828,296. Automatic tension-control systems. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO. Ltd. Dec. 4, 1956 [Dec. 20, 1955], No. 36481/55. Class 38 (4). The speed of motor M driving a reel is controlled by a photo-cell sensitive to loop size, or means sensitive to loop tension, which applies a signal to the field FB of a booster generator B in series with motor M; a stabilizing control is afforded by a regulating rheostat D, in the motor field FM adjusted by pilot motor RM which also acts to balance the output of tachogenerator TG against a reference voltage from potentiometer D 2 by adjusting the slider of the latter.
