A measuring apparatus for use in the game of bowls comprises a base a carrying a revolving spindle m fitted with a pointer p, the base a being cylindrical and having one end open enabling it to be placed over the jack and the other end b closed to support the spindle m. The spindle m is slidable in a sleeve h carried by a pin (not shown) which rotates in a hollow stem f, and the pointer p is formed from a flexible metal. By use of this apparatus the relative positions of two or more bowls may be compared.
