827,173. Cutting-machines. WESTON, B., and H. & B. PRECISION ENGINEERS Ltd., [formerly H. & B. PRECISION ENGINEERING & TOOLS CO. (WATFORD) Ltd.]. Feb. 28, 1956 [Feb. 28, 1955], No. 5933/55. Class 31 (1). [Also in Groups XVI and XL (b)] A web fed between driving and idling rollers 6, 8 is intermittently clamped between foot 24 of crank 20 and lever 12, in order to permit severing, when a solenoid 26 is actuated photoelectrically (see Group XL (b)) the idling rollers being simultaneously pushed away from the driving rollers. Foot 24 may form part of, or carry, a guillotine blade. In the second embodiment a single driving roller as wide as the web is used, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown). The photo-electric control is by printed or punched marks on the web.
