Abstract

825,030. Rolling balls. MESSERSCHMIDT, S. Jan. 3, 1958 [Jan. 10, 1957], No. 322/58. Class 83 (4). [Also in Group XXIII] Balls e are rolled to remove ridges and the like formed thereon during earlier manufacturing operations before they are ground by a grinding wheel g (Group XXIII) by their passing between a stationary disc b and a rotatable disc a, the discs being pressed towards each other. The balls are fed from a rotatable channel q through an inlet l, which is formed adjacent an outlet m in an opening in the stationary disc b, to concentric paths formed by grooves d of V, dovetail or other shape in at least one of the discs, or by rings r, Fig. 7, secured to one of the discs. The disc b has a recess h in which the grinding wheel operates.
