Abstract
Continuous filament yarns of thermoplastic materials, e.g nylon, polyesters, polyacrylonitrile and cellulose triacetate, are crimped and dyed by giving the yarn a high twist in one or more stages, then winding up on a perforated or coil-spring cylindrical bobbin, then treating with a boiling dye liquor, preferably under pressure, to set the twist and dye the yarn and finally back-twisting the yarn to its initial value of twist. The high twist is preferably effected in two stages between which the yarn is lightly steamed. The dye liquor may be forced through the wound package from the inside to the outside or vice versa, and to prevent sloughing of the outer yarn coils, the package may be provided with a stockinette sleeve or wound with a few coils of cotton. As applied to nylon, disperse acetate, metalliferous, direct or leucovat dyes may be employed. Specification 756,584, [Group VIII], is referred to.ALSO:Continuous filament yarns of thermoplastic materials, e.g nylon, polyesters, polyacrylonitrile and cellulose triacetate, are crimped and dyed by giving the yarn a high twist in one or more stages, then winding up on a perforated or coil-spring cylindrical bobbin, then treating with a boiling dye liquor, preferably under pressure, to set the twist and dye the yarn and finally back-twisting the yarn to its initial value of twist.
