Abstract

823,812. Insulators; mounting terminals. METROPOLITAN-VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO. Ltd. Feb. 25, 1958 [March 13, 1957], No. 8287/57. Classes 36 and 38 (1). A lead-in insulator is formed about a conductor 2 by casting an initially liquid, settable insulant 7 around the conductor within a receptacle 4 of insulating material. The conductor 2 and its coupling 3 are passed through a base hole 5 in the receptacle 4, the hole is closed by insulating plates 6 and the liquid insulant 7, e.g. an epoxy or other resin which polymerizes without application of pressure, is poured into the receptacle and allowed to set. The receptacle may be made of glass-fibre-reinforced resin laminate or of a resin similar to the insulant resin. The base hole 5 may correspond to the cross-section of the conductor in which case the plates 6 are unnecessary.
