Abstract
A hydraulic fluid comprises an emulsion of mineral lubricating oil in water and contains at least 0.03% by volume of hydrazine hydrate, and has a pH of from 7 to 9. The composition may contain 0.25% by volume of hydrazine hydrate and 0.5% by volume of the oil, and may also contain a polyphosphate such as sodium triphosphate. The pH may be adjusted by addition of sodium or potassium hydroxide or ammonia. An example is given.
