Abstract
822,705. Making heat-exchanger tubes. THOMPSON WATER TUBE BOILERS Ltd., J. Sept. 22, 1955, No. 27119/55. Addition to 804,592. Class 83 (2). [Also in Group XIII] The component parts of the heat-exchanger tube described in the parent Specification are metallically bonded together so that the helical wall is secured to both the inner and outer tubes. The bonding may be effected by coating the opposing surfaces of the respective tubes 2, 4 with brazing alloy 2a, 4a in grooves 7, 8 formed in the inner and outer surfaces of the helical wall 3, the assembly being thereafter subjected to heat treatment to braze the parts together. In a modification the metallic bond may supplement a mechanical bond applied in the manner described in the parent Specification, by expanding the inner tube or reducing the outer tube.
