Abstract

A cleaning cloth of cellulosic material is impregnated with colloidal silica. The cloth which may be wholly of cotton or of cotton and rayon is immersed in a bath containing a dispersion of silica in water, the particle size being less than 300 millimicrons, and is subsequently passed through squeeze rolls and dried at 212 DEG F. The bath, which may contain aluminium sulphate or chloride, may have a raised temperature and a pH value between 3.5 and 7.5.
