Abstract

822,286. Toasting-apparatus; steam-cooking apparatus. FORBAT, E. J. Nov. 29, 1955 [Dec. 3, 1954], No. 35145/54. Class 28 (1). [Also in Group XI] Food heating apparatus comprises a hollow base part 1 carrying pointed upstanding supporting elements 14, containing heating elements 16 and having at least one longitudinal cutting- edge, each of which receives, impaled thereon, a food casing, e.g. a bread roll, in which heated meat, sausage or the like is to be inserted, the heating elements being thermostatically controlled. As shown, a cavity is provided at one end of base-part 1 having a base 2 supporting a part 3 with three vertical arms 4 joined at their upper ends by a ring 5. Resting within arms 4 there is a heat-resisting glass, plastic or like container 6, within which is supported by hooks engaging over the rim, a wire basket 7 for sausages. The sausages are heated by steam from liquid in the container heated by an electric heating element 10. Alternatively, the sausages may be heated in a double boiler arrangement, Fig. 3 (not shown). Electric lamps may be provided to indicate when the electric current has been switched on.
