Abstract
A metal spraying composition comprises a mixture in powder form of a hard alloy containing Ni, Cr and B, the Ni forming more than 50% of the alloy, and a metal or alloy that is relatively soft compared to the hard alloy. The hard alloy may consist of Ni 65-85%, Cr. 8-18%, B 2-4.5%, C 0.3-1%, Fe 1.25-5.5%, Si 1.25-5%, Co up to 1.5%, and the relatively soft metal or alloy may be selected from Al, Mg, Ti, W, Cr, Fe, Co, Ni and alloys based on at least one of Fe, Ni and Co, e.g. 18-8 stainless steel, and may comprise 20-70% by weight of the composition. The spraying temperature is 1750 DEG -1900 DEG F.
