Abstract

821,071. Scythes. NORTH, R., and KINSMAN, H. J. A. Oct. 16, 1957 [Oct. 26, 1956], No. 32764/66. Class 6(1). A scythe for cutting water-weeds comprises an elongated handle 10 to one end of which is secured a plate 19 to which are bolted a pair of scythe blades 17, 18, the general direction of each blade being at an obtuse angle to the handle. The handle 10 has transverse handgrips 12, 13 and a flattened lower end to which the plate 19 is secured by bolts 24. Each blade has a curved back-rib 29 terminating in a tang 32 which is bolted to the plate 19. The angle between the blades is about 128 degrees. The implement may be trailed behind a boat.
