Flexible capacitors for detecting liquid level of the type described in the parent Specification and consisting of flat conducting ribbons on a flexible support are provided with areas masked by a dielectric material which reduces the effect on the total capacity of the liquid adjacent this dielectric so as to take account of tanks of varying cross-section. The coating may be on both sides of the strip. Specifications 819,711 is referred to.
