[Also in Group XX] In a photo-electric microscope in which a scale 21 is scanned by a beam of light from a source 10, part of the reflected light is deflected by a prism 22 adjacent the objective 19 on to an interference filter 24 which transmits light of suitable wavelengths to an eyepiece 28 and reflects light of other wavelengths to a photo-cell 25. The light beam is oscillated by an electromagnetically vibrated sheet of glass 16. Specification 684,435 is referred to.
