Abstract
818,877. Transistor radio receiving circuits; detectors. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. May 12, 1958 [May 17, 1957], No. 15795/57. Classes 40 (5) and 40 (6). In a receiver for A.M. sound, which includes transistor I.F. amplifiers 4, 17, a solid state rectifier 27 as detector and a transistor audio amplifier (not shown), the coupling between detector and audio amplifier comprises a transformer, the primary 28 of which is in series with a direct-current load for the detector. The load is divided, comprising resistors 5, 25 in series and is by-passed for audio frequencies by condensers 7, 26, the transformer ratio being such that the A.C. and D.C. loads of the detector are equal. Resistors 24, 30 provide a standing bias across resistors 25, 5 respectively such that the detector 27 is slightly biased in the forward direction, the voltage drop across resistor 5 being used to provide both the standing bias and an A.G.C. voltage for the I.F. stages 4, 17. The I.F. stages are neutralized by condensers 34, 33 connected between the appropriate ends of the secondaries of transformers 11, 21 respectively and the bases of transistors 4, 17 respectively.
