Abstract

817,338. Lifting-jacks. BROCKHOUSE & CO. Ltd., J. Aug. 27, 1957 [April 25, 1957; June 22, 1957], Nos. 13167/57 and 19722/57. Class 78 (3). the body 3 of a screw or hydraulic jack is mounted on the base 4 for pivotal movement in a single vertical plane and is urged to an upright position by resilient elements. The body 3 is pivoted to the base 4 by trunnions 8 which are cut away to accommodate rubber blocks 15 which abut against pins 10 and thereby urge the body to a vertical position. In Fig. 4 the body is urged to an upright position by rubber blocks 26, 27 which are located between the base and flanges 22, 23 formed on the body. In various modifications (Figs. 5-8, not shown), the body is urged to a vertical position by coil and leafsprings, and the trunnions are replaced by a rolling surface on the body which engages the base.
