817,215. Counting - apparatus. HEFA NARODNI PODNIK. Jan. 20, 1956 [Jan. 21, 1955], No. 2012/56. Class 106 (1). A counter having a pointer 1 on the input shaft 6 and a coaxial pointer 2 driven by transfer mechanism is zeroized on operation of a lever 19 which disengages a friction clutch 18, 18a through which the input shaft 6 is normally driven from a shaft 7 and disengages the transfer mechanism so that a spring 4 loaded during the operation of the counter rotates the shaft 6 in a reverse direction, a member 8a on the shaft 6 having a notch 20 which picks up a pawl 16 carried by a disc 17 fast with the pointer 2 and then restores the latter until it is arrested by a pawl 15 which engages a notch 22 in its periphery, whereupon both pointers will be zeroized. The pawl 15 has a resiliently mounted tooth 21 so as to reduce shock. The spring 4 is of spiral form and its end frictionally engages one of a number of pins 5 but can slip from one to the next. Two sets of pointers 1, 2 may be arranged as shown in Fig. 4 for cooperation with oppositely-facing dials, the pointers being driven through bevel gearing by coaxial shafts 60, 70 corresponding to the shaft 6 and the hub of the pointer 2 respectively. Transfer mechanism,-At transfer, a cam 8 on the shaft 6 rocks a lever 9 carrying a pawl 11 which advances a ratchet wheel 13 fast with the pointer 2 by one tooth. A pawl 14 prevents return movement of the ratchet wheel. Pins 30, 31 in a depending arm of the zeroizing lever 19 engage holes in the pawl 14 and lever 9 so as to disengage the pawls 14 and 11 to permit the ratchet wheel 13 to be zeroized.
