Abstract
816,615. Floating toys. ROSEDALE ASSOCIATED MANUFACTURERS Ltd. Oct. 9, 1957 [July 9, 1956], No. 21174/56. Class 132(3) A floating toy comprises a buoyant body 10 formed with a cavity 11 open at its bottom and closed at its top by a wall 12 having a relatively small aperture 13 so formed therein that the passage of air therethrough produces a whistle or similar sound. The body 10 may be formed in two hollow halves secured together either by fusion of their edges or by an adhesive. Alternatively the apertured wall 12 may be formed separately from the body, for example of thermoplastic material. Agitation of the water on which the toy floats gives rise to an intermittent flow of air through the aperture 13 which produces a whistling sound. The Provisional Specification mentions a moulded plastic or aluminium whistle.
