Abstract
816,529. Latches. REITZEL, G. [trading as DRESCHER & KIEFER]. April 3, 1957 [April 6, 1956; Feb. 15 1957], No. 10851/57. Addition to 727,113. Class 44 The closure device of the parent Specification is modified in that a single closing member is provided which is slidable under spring action in one direction into the closure position and is adapted to be slid in the opposite direction to occupy the open position at which it is held by a spring- pressed arresting device capable of being released automatically when the bag or the like is closed, the closure member, when in the closed position acting to hold the arresting device in a retracted position. In the arrangement according to Fig. 2, the device consists of a frame 1 and a housing 2, attachable to for example, the flap and body respectively, of a handbag. A spring- loaded slidable bolt 10 is retractable from a recess 19 by a spring-loaded plunger 14 having a nose portion 15 which engages the bolt 10 through a hole 13 therein. Another hole 12 in the bolt is engaged, in the retracted position of the bolt. by a nose 8 which is provided on a spring-loaded plate member secured to the housing 2, and which, when the device is closed, is held away from the hole 12, by abutment of the plate with a bottom plate 6 of the frame 1. In another arrangement, Fig. 6, a spring- loaded slidable member 63 in a housing 61 is held in the retracted position shown by a spring-loaded lever 66 which, co-operates with a nose 64 of the member 63 and which when the housing 61 is engaged with a frame 51, is released by a pin 52 which bridges a cut-out in the frame 51.
