Abstract
815,671. Pipe Joints. HEPWORTH IRON CO. Ltd. Feb. 5, 1958 [Feb. 9. 1957], No. 4515/57. Class 99(1). Clay pipes 1 of round cross-section are joined by sleeves 5 of slightly resilient synthetic plastic, such as polyvinyl chloride or polyethylene, resilient rings 3, of the same material or of natural or synthetic rubber, being compressed into sealing engagement with the pipes. As shown, the pipe ends are tapered, and the sleeves have internal chamfers at 6 and are forced over the rings which are rolled into the position 3B. The line of piping may be encased in concrete.
