Abstract
815,617. Glazing. ALUMINIUM LABORATORIES Ltd. July 12, 1957 [July 19, 1956], No. 22442/56. Class 20(3) A glazing bar assembly, made e.g. of extruded aluminium alloy, has a web 1 with lateral bottom flanges 3 to support e.g. glass panes 5, upwardly curved intermediate flanges 6 which define slots 8, and top abutment flanges 7, the slots 8 receiving the lower edges of the flat portions 10 of flashing members 9 which are in contact with the web 1 and have downwardly extending arm portions 11 which press against the outer surfaces of the panes 5 and U-shaped spring steel clips 14 being sprung between notches 15 on the top of the arm portions 11 of the flashing members and the abutment flanges 7. The inner ends of the flanges 3 define a slot 2 for the reception, e.g. of the heads of bolts, for securing the glazing bar, e.g. to a roof purlin. The edges of the bottom flanges 3 and the arm portions 11 are grooved to receive respectively plastic sealing cords 4, 12. Disassembly e.g. for removal, or replacement, of broken glass can be effected by inserting the head of a small screwdriver between the bottom legs of the respective clip 14 and the flashing member 9 and then twisting the screwdriver.
