Abstract
813,903. Reciprocating pumps. WINGET Ltd. Dec. 16, 1955 [Oct. 11, 1954], No. 29253/54. Class 102(1). The piston 14 of a concrete or like pump is secured to a cylinder 20 having a piston 21 connected by a rod 23 and crosshead 24 to a pneumatic or like power reciprocating motor. The cylinder 20 contains liquid and opposite ends are connected through non- return valves 29, 37 to opposite ends of a cylinder 45 the piston of which is connected through linkage to rotary inlet and outlet valves 6, 7 respectively. During the pressure and suction stroke of the piston 14 the crosshead 24, piston 21, cylinder 20 and piston 14 move together, the valves 29, 37 being closed. At adjustably predetermined points in the pressure and suction strokes, by engagement with stops 41, 43, one of the valves 29, 37 is opened whereby the piston 21 moves relative to the cylinder 20 causing liquid to be forced through the open valve to one end of the cylinder 45 forcing the piston along whereby the position of the valves 6, 7 is reversed. The stroke of the power motor is adjustable to vary the stroke of the piston 14. In a modification the valve linkage is connected to a crosshead slidable on the rod 23 which is provided with spaced stops engageable with the crosshead simultaneously with the engagement of the valves 29, 37 with the stops 41, 43. The cylinder 45 in this modification is not used and the outlets controlled by the valves 29, 37 are connected together. The pump cylinder includes a housing surrounding the piston 14 through which water passes to clean the piston.
