Class 68(1) [Also in Group XL(a)] To render a plastics moulded bouy visible at night zinc sulphide is incorporated in the material from which the buoy is constructed or forms a coating on the outer surface of the buoy, the zinc sulphide being a luminescent material. Panels of radio-active material, e.g. mesothorium, are held beneath windows 9 of compartments formed in the outer surface of the buoy. Thus the zinc sulphide which receives light during the daytime and in the dark emits light for a shorter time than the time it was exposed to daylight will remain luminescent for a much greater period of time in the dark due to the emanations from the mesothonium falling on it.
