Abstract

812,419. Electrophotographic processes. BATTELLE DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. Jan. 3, 1956 [Jan. 3, 1955]. Drawings to Specification. Class 98(2) An image of enhanced brightness range is produced by charging and exposing the photoconductive layer of a xerographic plate in known manner, incompletely developing it, and then recharging, exposing again in register and further developing the image. Development may be by the powder cloud technique and the first development may be carried out for half the time required for complete development. The second exposure may be about eight times the first exposure. The steps of charging, exposure and development may be repeated three, four or five times the development being stopped short of normal for all but the last time. The final image may be transferred and fixed in the usual manner.
