Abstract
812,075. Skips with bottom discharge. FIRTH BROS. Ltd. March 20, 1957 [March 20, 1956], No. 8665/56. Class 78 (4). The movement of the bottom discharge gate 19 (Fig. 1) of a skip carried by arms 14 from pivots 16 on opposite sides of the skip is limited by the engagement of strengthening bars 21 on the arms 14 with apertures 22 in an outer shell 10. In the construction illustrated the gate 19 closes a shaped aperture 13 in the bottom of a conical inner shell 11 (Fig. 2) mounted within the outer shell 10 which is cylindrical. Operating handles 23 (Fig. 1) are carried by the strengthening bars 21. A portion 20 of the shell 10 is cut away to permit a greater movement of the gate 19. Catches may hold the gate 19 in its closed or open positions.
