Abstract
The invention comprises compounds of the general formula <FORM:0811765/IV (b)/1> wherein n is a whole number from one to six, and the manufacture thereof by reacting a cyclic lactim ether of the general formula <FORM:0811765/IV (b)/2> wherein Q is an alkyl radical of one to four carbon atoms or an aryl radical; with a hydrazine carboxylic acid ester of the general formula <FORM:0811765/IV (b)/3> wherein R is an alkyl or an aryl group. The reaction is carried out at between 0 DEG C. and 80 DEG C. In an example caprolactim-O-methyl ether is reacted with ethyl hydrazine monocarboxylate to form a condensation product <FORM:0811765/IV (b)/4> which is cyclized to form 3-hydroxy-4,5-pentamethylene-1,2,4-triazole. Similarly are prepared 4,5 - tetramethylene -, 4,5 - trimethylene - and 4,5 - heptamethylene - 3 - hydroxy-1,2,4-triazoles from ethyl hydrazine monocarboxylate and valerolactim-, butyrolactimand capryl-lactim-O-methyl ethers respectively.
