Abstract

811,239. Pneumatic elevators. SIMON Ltd., H. July 25,1957 [Sept. 18, 1956], No. 28466/56. Class 78 (1). In an elevator for granular materials in which stock is fed by one or more ducts a to an entrainment position in the elevator casing d and each duct receives stock through a feeder seal b, usually of the rotary type, each duct is provided with means for preventing stock-laden air from travelling backwards from the elevator through the duct and for establishing in the duct air pressure equal to, or slightly greater than, that obtaining in the elevator. The duct a, which is substantially rectangular in cross-section, enters a part of the casing d where the crosssection is rectangular. The outlet of the duct is restricted by fixed baffles e, f and a pivoted plate g which is biased by a spring h so that its lower edge rests lightly on the stock. Air ducts m, n, Fig. 3A, disposed at opposite sides of the conduit d open into it below the entrainment point j and connect at o with the duct a.
