Abstract

809,012. Cartridge-operated tool for fixing bolts. &c. SCHULZ, W. Aug. 22, 1956 [Aug. 23, 1955], No. 25685/56. Class 119 A cartridge-operated stud-driving tool has a shatter guard attached to the muzzle end of its barrel in such a way that the barrel can be displaced against the force of a spring, from a central position in the guard. In Fig. 1 the barrel 3 is mounted out of centre in a disc 2, which is itself eccentric to and rotatable in a square guard plate 1 held in its normal position by a circumferential spring 5 and retained by a catch 9. In Fig. 2 a bellshaped guard is made in two segments 12 and 13 which can be rotated one over the other against a torsion spring 9 to place the barrel of the tool eccentric in relation to the area covered by the guard. In Fig. 3 (not shown) the barrel passes through a small rectangular plate slidable along grooved ways on a larger square guard plate. In Figs. 4, 5 and 6 (not shown) the guard is square and the barrel is mounted centrally in it, but one of the marginal edges of the guard can be hinged back.
