Abstract
808,509. Anchor-bolts. HADFIELDS Ltd. Feb. 1, 1957 [Feb. 1, 1956], No. 3254/56. Class 89(1) An anchor-bolt for holding rock-strata &c., comprises a bolt-member 10, e.g. of forged-steel, with a head 14, and a wedge 18, e.g. of cast-steel, of substantially the same length as the head and assembled therewith to form a composite-head of circular or rectangular cross-section. The head has a surface sloping toward the axis of member 10 and may be formed with a part 12 bent back against the member. In use, the wedge is carried into a bore by a lug 16 on the head, and when a nut is tightened on a screwed-part of the member, the head and wedge move relatively to enlarge the composite-head to grip the bore-wall. To facilitate this relative movement, the wedge may carry a rubberdisc 26 to grip the bore-wall frictionally.
