Abstract

807,335. Two-part couplings. UNITEDCARR FASTENER CORPORATION. Oct. 4, 1955 [Oct. 15, 1954], No. 28294/55. Class 38(1). A connector 10 suitable for incorporation into an assembly 12 of panels 14 bearing printed circuits, comprises an elongated insulating body 16 having along each side a slot 20, 22 into which the panels 14 can be slid, and a series of contacts 18 in the form of strips 32 with widened, inclined ends 34, 36 which enter the slots 20, 22 to engage the circuit elements 48, Fig. 11, when the parts are assembled. For this purpose, the body 16 has through apertures 24 and arrangements of slits 25, 25a, 26, 28, 30, whereby the contacts can be passed through aperture 24 from one side of the body, with a depending leg 38 entering the slot 30 and a foot 40 thereon lying under the slot 28, Fig. 10. Neighbouring panels can then be interconnected by conducting rods 50 passed through slots 26, 28 clear of the panels and soldered to the feet 40. Fig. 11 shows a panel 14 in process of being slid into place from the left, the inclined ends 34 or 36 being deflected and thereafter ensuring good contact and retention of the panel.
