The output voltage of an A.C. or D.C. generator driven by a D.C. motor is rendered independent of variations in supply voltage DCS by connecting the generator field winding a and the motor field winding d in parallel and in series with a ballast resistor f, the generator field current being stabilized by an iron barretter c. Any change in supply voltage thus produces a disproportionate change in motor field current so that the motor speed is constant or inversely variable with supply voltage. Adjusting rheostats b, e are provided.
