Abstract
806,821. Centrifugal strainer separators. BROADBENT & SONS Ltd., T. Aug. 15, 1957 [Oct. 29, 1956], No. 32870 /56. Class 46. [Also in Group XXXII] The spindle bearing housing d of a centrifugal strainer separator driven from above may pivot during loading of the basket in a resilient ring p ; it is constrained against moderate swinging movement by a resilient ring f, on which it is supported, and against excessive swinging movement by a seating ring g movable on a friction surface h in a fixed member i, the ring g being in turn constrained by an outer resilient ring j, the constraint exerted by the latter being adjustable by nuts k acting through a further ring n. In the equivalent arrangement for a machine driven from below the ring p is below the assembly f, g, j, n. The ring p may be replaced by a spherical bearing or a barrelled bush. According to the Provisional Specification the horizontal part of the member g may be shaped to an arc of a circle with its centre at the point about which the spindle swings, in service. The resilient rings f and j may be replaced by hydraulic, pneumatic or spring arrangements. The spindle may be driven through a flexible coupling, and there may be means between the bearing housing and a fixed member at a position adjacent to the bearing to provide a pivot point about which the spindle swings.
